I have my yellow boots on to walk

I have my yellow boots on to walk

Not seen the light of day

Hidden, deep within my wardrobe

They still fit, still shine

Still remind me of long days gone by

I have my yellow boots on to walk

Those outside think I’m crazy

Long since I’ve cared what they believe

When you get to this time of life

You realise how little there is left

I have my yellow boots on to walk

They ease my passage into town

To where I don’t want to go

Frowns from the family flock of crows

She though, she’d be smiling

I have my yellow boots on to walk

Two pairs there were way back

Bought on that fine summer’s day

She’s gone, I’m here, in black

See, I say, I’m wearing our yellow boots to walk
